Environmental Safety
Many different types of waste are generated on campus. Some of this waste is considered hazardous due to its potential to harm people and the environment. Hazardous waste includes chemical, radiological, and biomedical waste. EHOS is responsible for managing the disposal of all hazardous and otherwise regulated waste on campus. Those who generate this waste are responsible for the proper collection, handling, labeling and storage of these wastes in their work areas. Laboratory employees can learn more about how to handle the different waste streams by contacting EHOS at (212) 650-5080.
