April 2 marks my three month anniversary at CCNY and I want to thank the CCNY community for a very warm reception.

Over the last three months, I've worked diligently to learn the systems and processes both within CCNY and the greater CUNY system.

My focus over the next three months will be to 1.) increase the staffing of the HR office, and 2.) to revise several key processes to increase efficiency and minimize errors.  As HR processes are revised, I will also focus on improving the line of communication to ensure proper coordination across the campus.   

Since January, several key initatives have been developed to improve and facilitate the flow of communication to the departments and schools.  To that end, the most noteworthy initative has been the development of the HRC (HR Coordinator) Network.  In February 2007, HR hosted its first HR Coordinator (HRC) Meeting.  The most recent HRC Meeting, held Monday, March 26, 2007 was attended by 37 administrators representing 22 departments.  The schedule of the upcoming HRC meetings have been added to the HR website .  Administrators who are actively involved in the HR delivery within their departments or schools are encouraged to attend.

PROCESSING OF COLLEGE ASSISTANTS
In an effort to reduce delays in the processing of College Assistants, starting Monday, April 2, 2007, HR will process all College Assistants centrally.  The hours for processing College Assistants are Monday through Wednesday 9am to noon.  Departments should send their new College Assistant to Human Resources with a completed PAF-D for processing.  Please visit the HR website, to obtain specific information on the processing of College Assistants or contact Irene Cordrey-Walker at ext. 7226.

NEXT COA EXAMINATION
For anyone interested in working at CCNY as a College Office Assistant, the next exam is scheduled for July 14, 2007.  The filing period is April 30, 2007-May 25, 2007.  You may apply online at www.cuny.edu or visit the Human Resources in Shepard Hall, Room 50 for more information. 

NEW EMPLOYEE TAX COMPLIANCE NOTIFICATION SHEET
New employees that are non-resident aliens will be required to complete the Non-Resident Tax Form available on the HR Website.  Department administrators responsible for completing new hire HR documents, must include this form for new employees that are non-resident aliens.

PAF DEADLINES FOR HR
In an effort to coordinate the submission of PAF's to Payroll, PAF deadlines for submission to the HR Office have been added to the HR website. 

NEW EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION
Participation in the New Employee Orientation continues to grow with increasing attendance at each orientation.  The upcoming dates for orientation are available on the HR website.  Please contact Kim Ferguson at ext. 7226 for more information.
