Emilie Chapin Gruchow
City College Fellow
Emilie Chapin Gruchow is a student in the BA/MA history program. She transferred to City College from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where she previously concentrated in ballet performance. A native of Wales, Maine, she was fortunate to live in several regions of the United States and Argentina growing up. These experiences encouraged an early appreciation of the past as a shifting inheritance, with geographical variations and often conflicting legacies. Her focus has turned to legal and political history, with a concentration on the pragmatic consequences of ideology and policy in the 20th century. She is currently working as a curatorial intern at the Morris-Jumel Museum, and as a volunteer with a transitional program for domestically trafficked children and young adults.
