FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Earth and Atmospheric Science (EAS) Department at The City College of New York is searching for a candidate with strong teaching expertise in introductory earth and atmospheric sciences for majors and non-majors as well as strengths in teaching upper-level elective courses. This candidate is expected to be an outstanding teacher and have responsibilities for overseeing the training of teaching fellows in introductory laboratory courses. The EAS department recognizes the importance of its lower-level courses and feels that a dedicated teacher needs to be responsible for ensuring that these courses are interestingly taught and that instructors in the laboratory sections of all EAS courses are supervised and well trained. The lecturer is expected to be an intellectual force behind revising laboratory sessions to upgrade and update the laboratory exercises.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. This person is expected to have a demonstrated track record of innovative teaching. In particular, the department is interested in hiring someone who has proven experience in training students of different background levels and in working well with faculty members.
