Position Description and Duties

FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Sophie Davis School is a seven-year integrated curriculum leading to Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degrees. Founded in 1973 and located on The City College Campus, its mission is to expand access to medical careers for under-represented minorities and economically disadvantaged youth and to encourage and prepare students to provide primary care in New York's underserved communities. It has the highest proportion of under-represented minority medical students in New York State and one of the highest in the nation. http://www1.ccny.cuny.edu/prospective/med/

The academic pathologist we seek will direct and teach Pathology (general and organ-based), including lectures, tutorials and laboratory sessions; coordinate the instructional program which includes course design and implementation as well as administrative functions; be responsible for curricula development and evaluation and be open to changes and new directions; supervise instructional personnel and staff.



Qualifications and Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and a record of achievement in a profession or field of expertise related to teaching assignments. Also required is the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

M.D. degree is strongly preferred. The successful candidate should have a reputation and track record of scholarly research, teaching experience at a university, medical center and/or hospital at the graduate level; proven administrative and leadership ability for use in the effective and successful collaborative effort with the school faculty and staff; and experience working with diverse groups/students. The ideal candidate will have sufficient experience in curriculum development to integrate pathology concepts with other basic medical sciences.
