CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

Reporting to Office of Development and Institutional Advancement Campaign Director, the duties of the Associate Director include the following:
- Raise major gifts from alumni, friends, corporations, foundations, and other groups and individuals for priorities determined by the President of City College and the Vice President for Development & Institutional Advancement.  The Associate Director will have a dollar goal and gift number goal to meet each year and will also work to achieve other office and individual goals as determined by the Vice President on a regular basis. The Associate Director will be an important member of a successful and cohesive fundraising team.
- Identify and research prospects; meet with individual, corporate, and foundation prospects; manage the cultivation and solicitation process; write proposals and close major gifts for the College.
- Solicit gifts as a professional fund-raiser, focusing mainly on prospects at or around the $25,000 - $100,000 level to be paid over a five-year period and prepare proposals based on the College's needs and the prospect's interests.
- Manage correspondence, telephone contacts, proposals, and follow-up letters related to his/her prospects, as well as acknowledgement letters to donors for their gifts/pledges.
- Work with other peer donors and/or members of the College community who may become involved in cultivating and soliciting potential donors; prepare written briefing memos for any other persons attending any prospect meetings, and include all background information on the prospect, discussion points for all attendees, and a description of the meeting's goals and objectives.
- Attend all cultivation and fundraising events with major donors and devise and implement development strategies designed to bring in gifts at the $25,000 - $100,000 level and higher.

Qualifications and Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of six years of experience in the fundraising office of an educational or other not-for-profit organization raising gifts, including a successful record of raising major gifts independently, is required.  The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, multi-tasking individual with excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of Raiser's Edge and/or other fundraising databases preferred.
