     Will MacAdams is a community-based theater artist based in New York City. Directing credits include: TopDog/UnderDog, Game On, The Open Road Anthology (Actors Theatre of Louisville); Krapp’s Last Tape (Symphony Space, NY); Annie Lanzillotto’s The Flat Earth (Dixon Place, NY), Naomi Wallace’s The Retreating World (Louisville, KY) and One Flea Spare (Columbia University, NY); Peter Handke’s Kaspar, performed by theater students in Johannesburg, South Africa at the beginning of the Mandela era; Eye to Eye, an original play about racism and youth-police relations, created by future police officers and young people; Awaken New Haven, a five-hour, citywide theatrical event produced by Long Wharf Theatre; and a range of community-based plays that integrated the voices of actors, young people, police officers, activists, and elders. His work as a playwright include Waiting for Justice, read at the Long Wharf Theatre during the Amistad’s Homeport Celebration, 2000; Freedom River, a retelling of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Art on the Edge Festival, 1997); and Cruising the Divide, an interview-inspired play about segregation and the Kentucky Derby, produced by Actors Theater of Louisville’s Apprentice/Intern Company in May. He is a past recipient of the Rockefeller Foundation’s Next Generation Leadership Fellowship, the Connecticut Voices for Children Award, and a Yale University Bates Fellowship, which brought him to Central Java to train in Javanese Shadow Puppetry.
