Materials Exchange Certificate Program (MECP)
The Materials Exchange Certificate Program (MECP) is a series of eight interactive training workshops designed by NYC Materials Exchange Development Program (NYC MEDP), and NYC Department of Sanitation's Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse and Recycling (BWPRR) to assist professionals who work for material reuse and donation organizations such as clothing drives; second-hand retail and thrift stores, shelters, as well as warehouses and social services that deal with second-hand donations.
The MECP provides non-profit donation-organizations the opportunity to Improve Operations; Increase Sustainability; Invest in Leadership and consists of the following workshops:
- Goal Setting & Non-Profit Program Design
- Marketing Skills
- Board Development & Volunteer Management
- Taxes, Risk & Liability for Material Donations
- Budgeting & Fundraising Skills
- Warehousing & Logistics
- Reuse Retail Store Management
- Reporting Success
Upon completion of MECP, participants will receive a joint Certificate of Completion from The City College of New York Continuing and Professional Studies, NYC MEDP, and the BWPRR.This course is offered FREE to all member organizations of NYC MEDP (nycmedp.org); and at a 20%discounted rate of $280 to all NYC MEDP affiliate organizations. Non-member and non-affiliates are also welcome to register.
