A security guard patrols the buildings and/or grounds of a company, school campus, or other assigned locations to ensure the safety of the area, or signs people in and out of a workplace. By the end of this training course you will be well-informed about security procedures, know how to be vigilant, and have the necessary skills to deal with any breach of security on the job.

NYS 8 Hour (Pre-Assignment) Security Guard Certification Course

Prerequisite: High School diploma or GED

This security guard certification course will discuss the following topics:

• The security industry
• The role of a security guard
• Legal powers and limitations of a security guard
• Emergency response preparation
• Effective communication and public relations
• Access control
• Ethics and conduct of a security guard

The course will conclude with a review and examination.
