ACTING
Lonette McKee's Actor's Workshop
This ten-week workshop will cover character exploration and development, in-depth scene study and development, backstage and onstage etiquette, the differences between acting techniques for film, television and stage, and the do's and don'ts of the industry, and how to break into the fiercely competitive professional entertainment industry. Students will also get the basics of mounting a production as they prepare an "Evening of Scenes" which will be showcased in a small professional performance with an invited audience at the end of the workshop.
Lonette McKee. Some of Ms. McKee's film credits include: Learning Uncle Vincent; Honey and Honey 2; The Cotton Club and Gardens of Stone; Lift, for which she earned a Black Reel nomination. Other films include Men of Honor, Round Midnight, Jungle Fever, Malcolm X, He Got Game and She Hate Me.
Television mini-series and films include Having Our Say, Queen and Women of Brewster Place, for which she received an NAACP nomination. Lonette also received a NAACP nomination for her appearances on the long-running CBS soap opera As the World Turns. McKee had a recurring role on the NBC drama Third Watch. She is producing her first feature film Dream Street, which she wrote and will direct.

Job Readiness
The purpose of this course is to help job seekers develop the skills necessary to find employment. Topics covered include: resume and cover letter development, the importance of social networking for finding a job, and job interview preparation and practice.
The quality of your resume often determines how successful your job search will be. In this class you will learn how to write to create or revise your resume so that it becomes a powerful tool that helps you get an interview. You will also learn how to write an effective cover letter.
While a good resume and cover letter will help you get an interview, it is in the interview itself that usually seals the deal and lands you the job. This course helps prepare you for an interview by going over standard interview questions and showing you how to effectively communicate that your skills match the job requirements.

SAY IT WITH CONFIDENCE: Public Speaking Without Fear
In our information age, the ability to speak confidently in public is highly valued. And public speaking is often a job requirement. But speaking in public can strike fear in the strongest of hearts. This course is designed to help you get past your fear and get to the point. You will learn how to use diction, pitch, tone and volume to engage your listeners and add variety to your speech. This course will help you learn how to relax and hold the attention of your audience, how to develop skills in word games, icebreakers, and interviewing, and how to give brief presentations and short speeches on your own.
Florene "Flo" Wiley is a highly sought after public speaker who has given many keynote addresses. She received AUDELCO Award for Best Supporting Actress (1978, Sandra Lane, Frederick Douglass Creative Arts Center) and has performed at Woodie King Jr.'s New Federal Theater, the New York Shakespeare Festival/Public Theater, and the Manhattan Theater Club. Flo Wiley has taught acting and public speaking since 1977.

Writing Creatively For The Workplace
This seven-week course teaches techniques for writing clear, concise and effective business documents such as memos, letters, emails, and reports. The focus of this course, however, is not only on the appropriate structure, grammar, and format of a business document, but also teaches you about tone and style so that you can write creatively within the confines of business communication. Learning how to write business documents creatively as well as correctly will enhance your job performance and help you move forward in your chosen field.
