NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION

Plan your transition back to college NOW
 Get organized:
*Who is my academic advisor? What is her/his telephone number and email address?
*When is my tuition payment due?
*When am I required to attend New Student Orientation?
*When is my first day of class?
*When is my last day to add or drop a course?
*When is the last day to officially withdraw from a course?

Gather your support system:
*Have I sat down with my spouse or partner to talk about how my college attendance will alter our activities, habits, and finances? Have I asked outright for his or her support?
*Have I talked to my children, in terms they can understand, about my decision to attend college?
*Have I let my close friends know that I may not be as available due to the requirements of schoolwork and studying?
*Have I shared my decision to return to school with my employer?
*Do I have a back-up plan in place for childcare or picking up children from school or activities?

Do a serious and honest reality check:
*Why am I taking these courses? What are my goals? What will it take to reach each goal?
*When will I read, take notes, write, revise, and review for each course I am registered for?
*What activities will I need to eliminate or modify to make time for studying and coursework?

Plan for balance in your life:
*When will I relax?
*When will I exercise or incorporate some type of movement?
*How will I plan ahead for nutritious meals and snacks?
*What activities can I do that are healthy ways to de-stress and re-energize?
