They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but for Kenneth Sullivan, one documentary class he enrolled in at CWE made his college experience priceless. “I took a lot of history classes at CWE as well as media,” recalls Sullivan, a 27-year Postal veteran who currently processes priority mail at the Morgan General Mail Facility. “The video documentation class really stood out in my mind. I was able to realize my dream of producing, directing and editing video at The Center.”
Sullivan took on the role of director with his first documentary entitled “Amaduo,” an investigative look at police brutality, and particularly the Amaduo Diallo case. He’s since produced his own videos, mainly documentaries. “If they are serious about getting their degree, CWE is the place to be,” advises Sullivan, who graduated magna cum laude and received the Leonard Spano award for social science. Sullivan is currently pursuing a master’s in public administration at the Brooklyn College Graduate Center. “All of the teachers are very helpful and give good advice.”
Sullivan gives credit to CWE for helping him make a smooth transition into grad school. “As a [Brooklyn College] grad student, I currently have to write research papers,” says Sullivan, who credits great professors like Barbara Omalade, Steve Liberstein, John Calagione and Carol Eisenberg stood out. “CWE prepared me for writing research papers and I feel confident that.” will do well at Brooklyn.”
