TESOL
Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages teach students of all ages. We offer programs that lead to New York State certification (Grades Pre-K - 12), as well as a non-certification program (Stream B), appropriate for those who wish to teach adults and/or internationally.
Streams A, B, C, and Fellows streams lead to a Master of Science degree. Admission criteria, course requirements, and the number of credits required to complete the program vary according to the following:
Stream A: For students who hold certification in another area, and seek initial certification in TESOL.
Stream B: For students who do not seek New York State teaching certification. This program is appropriate for those who wish to teach adults and/or to teach internationally.
Stream C: For students who seek Initial Certification in TESOL. (Current TESOL Stream B students can download an application to apply to TESOL Stream C)
Fellows: For NYC Teaching Fellows who hold Transitional B Teaching Certification.
TESOL Certificate (
Stream D): For certified teachers who already hold a Master's degree, and seek New York State certification in TESOL (17 credits)
