Admissions
To apply to the graduate program in Educational Theatre students should submit a complete admissions application to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
Applications are due mid-March for admission in the Fall semester, and mid-October for admission in the Spring semester. Please contact the School of Education Graduate Office of Admissions for further details.
If you are applying to The Program in Educational Theatre when filling out the admissions application:If you are applying to Stream A, B, E please check that you are applying for initial certification.If you are applying to Stream D please check that you are applying for Master's only. No streams should indicate Advanced Certification.
Please note that applications for all streams should focus their personal statement on the following: Tell us about your artistry and your artistic experiences and please share with about your interest in teaching. In addition, please submit your artistic and teaching resume, if you have.
For Streams A & E The following items are required as part of the admissions process:
- Completed admissions application (can be downloaded here)
- Or pick up an application in the School of Education Graduate Admissions office NAC 3/223
- Application fee.
- Official transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate coursework. For transcripts from non-English-speaking universities, original transcripts as well as an official English translation must be submitted.
- 3 letters of recommendation (at least 2 professional recommendations)*
*Candidates from the Applied Theatre program only require a letter of recommendation from the program supporting your application
- New York State Teacher Certification Examinations
- After the admissions deadline, applicants will be contacted to come in for an in-person interview and an on-site admissions essay.

- Copy of Initial/Provisional/Temporary New York State Teaching Certificate
- After the admissions deadline, applicants will be contacted to come in for an in-person interview and an on-site admissions essay.
