STUDENT TEACHING, PRACTICUM AND SUPERVISED TEACHING APPLICATIONS FOR FALL 2012

Please be aware that our Student Teaching, Practicum and Supervised Teaching applications for the Fall 2012 semester will be available in the Office of Field Experiences (OFE – NAC 6/207A) as of Friday, January 27, 2012.

[Note: Childhood Education and Educational Theatre have a different application process. Please speak with our staff for the specifics.]

COMPLETING YOUR APPLICATION

All applicants must meet with their respective Program Advisor in order to complete the Student Teaching, Practicum and Supervised Teaching application before bringing it to the OFE. The application includes an autobiographical essay/reflective paper that must be typed, three to five pages in length, double spaced, one-sided, Times New Roman and a font of 12. You must submit your completed application to the OFE no later than Friday, April 20, 2012. Make certain that you schedule your interview with Dr. Bruce M. Billig, the Director of the Office of Field Experiences, after submitting your completed application. Interviews with Dr. Billig will be conducted from February 6th  through May 11, 2012.   Please schedule your interview as soon as possible.

SCHEDULING YOUR INTERVIEW WITH THE DIRECTOR OF THE OFE

When you submit your completed application to the OFE, please schedule an interview with Dr. Billig. This interview is extremely important in order for your application to be approved. WE STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU SCHEDULE YOUR INTERVIEW WITH DR. BILLIG IN FEBRUARY, MARCH OR APRIL.   DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE "LAST MINUTE".

FINAL DEADLINE

Make certain that you have satisfied all application conditions (e.g., course grades, required number of fieldwork hours, required tests, approval from your Program Advisor and interview with Dr. Billig) prior to May 11, 2012Note: If you miss this deadline, you may need to postpone your Student Teaching/Practicum until the Spring 2013 semester.

OTHER DATES TO REMEMBER

You are required to attend our Student Teaching Orientation Workshop for the Fall 2012 Student Teaching/Practicum candidates in late August 2012 (date TBA) in the NAC 4/220 B from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Please be available on (date TBA) to meet with your cooperating teacher at your school site. The first day of Student Teaching is (TBA).  Student teaching ends on (TBA).Contact the OFE (NAC 6/207A) if you have any questions (212-650-6915 or educfield@ccny.cuny.edu).
