The Mission of the Learning & Technology Resource Center

IMG_0025web The Learning & Technology Resource Center (LTRC) is located in NAC 3/226. The Center plays an important role in preparing our teacher candidates with the skills and competencies to use technology in classroom settings. In various courses, workshops, and through open access, candidates acquire valuable skills to integrate technology in their instruction to motivate students and make learning more effective. The center seeks to support faculty efforts to integrate technology in their teaching by affording greater access to technology and opportunities to use these technologies in the instructional and learning process.

In addition, since opening in 1998 with the expressed intent to improve the academic performance of students in the School of Education, the LTRC continues to prepare candidates for NY State Teacher Certification Exams. Through regular intervention strategies, the Center ensures that teacher candidates are prepared for certification exams before exiting their programs. The Center will seek to expand the utilization of new technologies to achieve this objective and to prepare candidates to become qualified, competent, and effective NYC urban teachers.
