CUNY Math Challenge
Start: 03/03/09
End: 03/22/12

Dear Presidents and Chief Academic Officers,

I am very pleased to inform you that CUNY has launched the first-ever CUNY Math Challenge, a University-wide mathematics competition for all CUNY undergraduates that challenges contestants to solve math problems and puzzles of varying levels of difficulty, developed by a committee of CUNY faculty. Ultimately, CUNY will award our most creative mathematical minds with cash prizes ranging from $500 to $2,500, funded by the Academic Leadership Award received by Chancellor Goldstein from the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

Beginning today, interested CUNY undergraduates can register online at http://math.cisdd.org , and on March 2nd, can begin the first of four online rounds of problems. New rounds will begin every other week, and participants will have two weeks to submit their answers, accumulating points along the way. Students with the most points after four rounds will be invited to sit for a final in-person exam to be administered on May 10th, 2009.

I am writing to encourage you to disseminate information on this exciting opportunity as widely as possible among both faculty and students. With your assistance we can make sure that all CUNY undergraduates can rise to the Challenge!

For more information, please visit http://math.cisdd.org . Thank you for your cooperation.

Best regards,

Lexa Logue
