Requirements for the Major and Minor

REQUIREMENTS FOR MAJORS
Students are required to take a total of 30 credits related to Asia and Asian Studies subjects including at least one  three-credit course in each of the civilizations of China, India and Japan. A course (3 credits) on South East Asia may be used to replace any one of the three civilizations. At least 24 credits must be above the 20000 level. Students are further required to take at least one Independent Study course. Students who are proficient in Asian languages may use their language ability to fulfill requirements of up to six credits.
 
REQUIREMENTS FOR MINORS
Students are required to take a total of 15 credits of courses related to Asian subjects. Of those credits, at least 9 must be above the 20000 level. Students who are proficient in Asian languages may use their language ability to fulfill requirements of up to six credits.
