About Laura Callahan
Professor Callahan has taught at San José State University, U.C. Berkeley, and Michigan State University. She is a Research Fellow at the Research Institute for the Study of Language in Urban Society (RISLUS), housed in the M.A./Ph.D. Program in Linguistics at the Graduate Center, CUNY. She is a member of the doctoral faculty in the Ph.D. Program in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Literatures and Languages at the Graduate Center.

Research Interests
Professor Callahan’s research focuses on language attitudes, language and identity, codeswitching, and heritage language maintenance.

Publications

Professor Callahan is author of the books Spanish and English in U.S. Service Encounters (Palgrave Macmillan, in press) and Spanish/English Codeswitching in a Written Corpus (John Benjamins, 2004). She has published articles in: Hispania; Language & Communication; Sintagma: Revista de Lingüística; Southwest Journal of Linguistics; The Bilingual Review/La Revista Bilingüe; Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development; Intercultural Pragmatics; Itinerarios: Revista de estudios lingüísticos, literarios, históricos y antropológicos; and International Multilingual Research Journal (in press).
