Undergraduate Programs
The City College of New York offers a Bachelor of Arts in History, as well as a minor in History. Click

Introducing undergraduates to the process of historical thinking is our core mission. Our offerings concentrate in the modern period (c. 1500-present) and span the globe. We offer wide-ranging surveys and in-depth courses on precise topics to provide the opportunity for students to grapple with different kinds of historical evidence and the ways historians interpret them. By understanding the complex ways that change does and does not occur, students learn to see the world around them in new ways. Classes are kept small to help students interact with each other and faculty members.
The BA/MA Program
Motivated undergraduates may apply if they have completed 21 credits in history on the CCNY campus, completed 75-90 credits overall, and have a GPA ≥ 3.3. If accepted, students should plan to take four MA courses in their senior year. Students take 27 BA credits (9 courses) and 24 MA credits (8 courses); they receive both degrees after the completion of 138 total credits.
History and Social Studies Education
Students interested in teaching high school social studies should consider majoring in history with a minor in education. Consult the overview of requirements for the education department here.
