venezuelan advertising major wanted to study in the industry's hub LauraMalandrino Laura Malandrino, from Venezuela, is an Advertising major who worked for many years in her native country as an editor in the arts, culture and the fashion world. She studied Marketing and Advertising for four years in Venezuela but felt compelled to continue her studies in the US. She carefully analyzed all the courses on offer and felt the program in City College was the best because the Program combined advertising, public relations, writing and journalism plus access to New York, the main hub of the industry in the US.
Laura was gratified when she found the course was better than she imagined and knows she has learned more in the two years in City College than she did in the four years in her previous college. What appeals to her the most is the great experience of the teachers and their obvious commitment to students and the way they celebrate and react when their students are successful in internships, competitions and in the job market. "You know it is genuine" Laura says. "They want the best for the students and their careers"
Laura feels strongly that the program is intimate and well conceived and practical and that every graduate is ready for the workplace in areas such as advertising, copyrighting, marketing, public relations, media relations and the entertainment industry. The wide network of alums with strong loyalty to Lynn Applebaum and the other faculty also helps recent alums secure internships and jobs.
Laura hopes to continue with her education within CUNY with either a Master's degree in Marketing or Organization Psychology. She was drawn to the psychology classes while in the Program and hopes to pursue her career in New York in the area of strategic planning within organizations.
