About Kate Levin
Prof. Levin is currently on a leave of absence from CCNY to serve as the Commissioner of Cultural Affairs for the City of New York.

Teaching Philosophy
I work from the dual perspective of a theater artist and a literary critic. I value and encourage the physical, vocal and emotional skills that are essential to the art of acting; I also nurture analytical and interpretive skills that make theater vivid and urgent for actors and audience members alike.

Above all, I try to teach "theatrical literacy" -- the ability to engage with a play as both a literary work and as a script.
