About Julio Agustin Matos, Jr.
Although my training and technique are both Stanislavski- and Meisner-based, my approach is not necessarily to teach one certain methodology at first, but to help students understand through exposure that there are many different ways to arrive at the same result. My goal is to help students to learn, more than it is simply to teach. I am able to work with students on their specific needs, ultimately assisting them in finding their own individual path.
I am a strong proponent of a liberal arts education as I believe exposure to things outside of the theatre arts is essential to becoming both a well-rounded, individual, mature student, and trained effective performer. The skills attained through this type of varied and rigorous education exposes students to issues not often explored in the conservatory setting; matters such as learning effective time management, developing a compassion and understanding for others not like ones self, a clearer perspective and self-awareness, and others. These are invaluable for the serious student who seeks a profession in this business and can often mean success in crossing over from student to professional, as well as the maintenance of a successful career in the industry.

Technique, collaboration, and experience are what I am able to offer my students and colleagues.
