About Stanford A. Roman, Jr., M.D., M.P.H.

Stanford A. Roman, Jr. was Dean of the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education from 1990 to August 2009.

In addition to his role as Dean of Sophie Davis, Dr. Roman held an academic appointment as Medical Professor in the Department of Community Health and Social Medicine.

From 1989 to 1990 he was Senior Vice President for Medical and Professional Affairs at the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation.

From 1987 to 1989 Dr. Roman was Dean and Vice President For Academic Affairs at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta GA. Previously from 1986 to 1987 he was Deputy Dean at Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, NH, and from 1981 to 1986,Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at Dartmouth Medical School.

After receiving his M.D. degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1968, and completing his residency training at Harlem Hospital Center in internal medicine, Dr. Roman held several positions at Harlem Hospital Center from 1972 to 1973, and then as Director of Ambulatory Care at Boston City Hospital from 1974 to 1978, and then as Medical Director at District of Columbia General Hospital from 1978 to 1981.
