Giuseppe Cruciata Giuseppe Cruciata is a 2008 Sophie and Leonard Davis Scholarship Winner The son of Italian immigrants, Mr. Giuseppe Cruciata, Sophie Davis Class of 2010, is the winner of a 2008 Sophie and Leonard Davis Scholarship. He grew up in Brooklyn where he attended John Dewey High School.
He’s a regular on the Dean’s List and received a Kheel Community Service Fellowship from CCNY’s ColinPowellCenter to, among other things, do volunteer work.
A qualified EMT, Mr. Cruciata volunteers with a community ambulance corps in Brooklyn. He’s also a Rudin Research Fellow and did research in the laboratory of Dr Serafin. Pinol-Roma in Sophie Davis’ Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy.
For his fieldwork in Community Medicine placement he worked at the Kids Weight Down Program at MaimonidesMedicalCenter. As part of his study on the long term effects of pediatric obesity treatment, he co-authored an abstract that was presented at The Pediatric Academic Society annual meeting.
In addition, Mr. Cruciata has been a volunteer tutor at A. Phillip Randolph High School under the aegis of the Student National Medical Association. At CCNY, he co-founded and serves as president of the Italian Culture Club and played on the lacrosse team. He has been a member of the Biomed Asian Health Coalition since entering the program and was elected vice president one year.
He will transfer to New York University School of Medicine in 2010.
