Howa Yeung is a 2008 Sophie and Leonard Davis Scholarship Winner

Howa Yeung, Sophie Davis Class of 2010, is a winner of a 2008 Sophie and Leonard Davis Scholarship. Mr. Yeung tops his class with a 4.0 G.P.A., which is a remarkable feat in the rigorous Sophie Davis School program.

The 2005 Stuyvesant High School alum’s accomplishments at CCNY are legion. They include the Dean’s List; induction into the Golden Key International Honor Society; the Downer Language Award in French, and a Leonard Davis Community Service Fellowship which he fulfilled as a volunteer with In Arms Reach.

Mr. Yeung has also been the recipient of a Rudin Research Fellowship that he spent conducting research in the laboratory of Sophie Davis Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy Professor Dr. Serafin Pinol-Roma studying RNA binding proteins.

He was one of only six students selected to be teaching assistants for the Health, Medicine and Society sequence of courses that students complete in the second year. In addition, Mr. Yeung was also chosen to work with Dr. Ernie Drucker as a teaching assistant for a Public Health and Safety course taught to students of the Macaulay Honor College at CCNY.

Despite an intense schedule, Mr. Yeung still finds time for the American Medical Student Association. He’s also a member of Physicians for a National Healthcare Program and volunteers at the Gay Men’s Health Crisis.

The Brooklyn resident, he moved from Hong Kong at age 13, will transfer to New York University School of Medicine in 2010.
