***( Please read note in red below carefully)

undefinedHave you dreamed of being a doctor, dentist, veterinarian or other health professional? Well, your dream is now within your grasp. Let City College help you achieve your goals.

ABOUT US
The City College of New York has a long history of academic excellence. For over 150 years this comprehensive institution has educated students who were often new to this country or limited in financial resources. The result: thousands of successful alumni.

Our outstanding Program in Premedical Studies (PPS) is designed to prepare students for careers in medicine, dentistry, osteopathy, veterinary medicine, optometry and podiatry.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Program in Premedical Studies (PPS) of the Division of Science of the City College of New York is to identify and prepare undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students for entry into the professional programs in the health sciences (medicine, dentistry, osteopathy, optometry, podiatry, and veterinary sciences).  The program advances students' knowledge of careers in the health sciences through academic advisement, tutoring services, workshops, and symposia.  Students are referred to hospitals and other clinical centers to provide volunteer and research opportunities to facilitate their clinical shadowing experience, which carries significant weight in a professional school admissions application. The Premedical Studies Office guides students through the application process with information on timeliness, and assistance with personal statements, and preparation for interviews.

A HISTORY OF SUCCESS

Since the establishment of the Program in Premedical Studies in 1981, City College students have been admitted to some of the finest medical and dental schools in the country, including Columbia, Weil Cornell, Albert Einstein, SUNY Upstate, SUNY Dowbstate, SUNY Stony Brook, Drexel, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, SUNY Optometry and the Dental School of UMDNJ.

Approximately 75% of all Program in Premedical Studies applicants who apply to professional programs are successful in gaining admission to one or more schools.

HOW IT WORKS

You enroll in a full program of study in any City College department (usually the sciences).  Students also receive special support services (tutoring, advisement, workshops, etc.) that are designed to help them become a successful applicant to the professional school of their choice.

***If you are a prospective post-baccalaureate student applying to the Program in Premedical  Studies, please note that due to the overwhelming enrollment at CCNY, we can no longer guarantee a seat in a science course for newly accepted students.****
