• Policy analyst or researcher for a government agency or think tank
• Staff specialist or policy analyst for an international organization
• Staff member for a non-governmental organization
• Member of the foreign service or diplomatic corps
• Journalist or correspondant with a specialty in international affairs
• High school teacher

A masters in international affairs can also prepare a student for further academic work toward a Ph.D. and a career in college teaching and research.
