The Skadden, Arps Honors Program in Legal Studies

The Program

The Skadden, Arps Honors Program is a two-year course of study for students who have completed approximately 55 to 75 credits of undergraduate work. The program begins the summer prior to the student's junior year with an intensive four-week Summer Institute, and is open to eligible City College and transfer students.

Your Obligation

  • Skadden scholars are required to make a two-year commitment to the Program, which includes two summers and one winter intersession.
  • Attend a four-week summer institute designed to strengthen basic and critical thinking skills and to introduce students to the legal profession.
  • Complete the legal studies curriculum, designed to complement a wide range of majors, and to provide students with an advanced understanding of the legal system and its role in US society.
  • Take the LSAT exam.
  • Attend a six-week internship.

Eligibility

The Skadden, Arps Honors Program in Legal Studies is looking for students who:

  1. Have GPAs at or over 3.3 and strong writing and critical thinking skills,
  2. Demonstrate a strong desire to go to law school and
  3. Exhibit maturity and self-discipline.
